Located in Downtown Miami, Florida just next to Biscayne Bay you can find the American Airlines Arena, a large complex for sports and entertainment all year long. This newly erected structure has only been around since 1998; however in its short lifespan it seems to have surpassed expectations. The building was designed to replace the existing Miami Arena by two separate architectural firms; 360 Architecture and Arquitectonica. The primary focus of this stadium is on the National Basketball Association or NBA for short and is home to the well known team the Miami Heat. During the early 2000's the Women's National Basketball Association team the Miami Sol made the arena its home for two short years before its unfortunate collapse in 2002. Access to the arena has been made easy by the Miami Metrorail, because Florida is frequently visited by guests and tourists; having quick and easy access insures that visitors will have the chance to get in on the action. The arena houses 2,105 club seats as well as 76 private boxes and 80 luxury suites. Inside the arena you can also find the Waterfront Theatre, which can seat between 3,000 and 5,800 fans depending on the stage setup. The Theatre is often used for concerts, motivational speeches, Broadway shows and other events throughout the year. With such a wide variety of possible events, sports games and other shows it's easy to see why the American Airlines Arena is a prime source of entertainment in the Miami area. An impressive achievement of the stadium was back in 2006 when it hosted the NBA Finals with its relative stadium the American Airlines “Center.” With its quick rise to recognition the arena is now the home court for the Miami Heat and has hosted games since 1998, an impressive track record for such a young stadium!
