Monday Night Magic is the longest off-Broadway magic show in existence. It is a show that supplies different magical acts selected from the best in the world performing in New York City. Shows are on Monday nights at 8pm. Monday Night Magic is considered New York’s best magical venue by TimeOut NY and has received the Best of Manhattan Award from the New York Press. Performers like Rocco, Jamy Ian Swiss, Jeff Grow, Bob Cassidy, Prakash, Frank Brents, RJ Lewis, David Oliver, and so many more captivate the crowds of the Julia Miles Theater. It all started with a lack of venues in New York City that offered live magic performances in 1997. As a matter of fact, the city was completely without a venue that featured live magic at all. It was the vision of magic veterans Michael Chaut, Frank Brents, Todd Robins, Peter Samelson, and Jamy Ian Swiss that brought Monday Night Magic to life. With a venue and a goal, this powerful team would bring a big dog in magic performance venues to the Big Apple to reintroduce laugher right around the corner to the fine people of NYC and to all of the others who come from all over to experience a phenomenal magic performance in an adult atmosphere.
After 9/11, the theater industry in New York City came to a dead end. No one was going out, no one was paying for tickets to Broadway shows let alone comedy venues so there was a big break in the laughter provided by Monday Night Magic. It wasn’t until 2003 when Monday Night Magic came back to the stage to start a performance schedule in a new venue, The Soho Playhouse. From there, it moved to Manhattan’s Restaurant Row for an even larger venue.
The show is for adults and features a mix of locals and tourists who have been to the great venue many times over as well as new comers to the show who have heard of how great the performance is. Join the ranks of fans that wait eagerly for Monday night to roll around so that they may be captivated by great personalities in magic minus the big Las Vegas style productions with elaborate props, wild animals, explosions, and ridiculous gimmicks. This show is a nice time with some good friends on an evening out, maybe after a fine dinner, to enjoy great magic from great personalities. Get your hard to find or sold out tickets to Monday Night Magic showing every Monday Night at the Julia Miles Theater.
