So, it is once again to time to take your annual vacation and this time around you are a trip to world famous New York City. The first thing that you have to do is find out what you are going to be doing while you are staying there. Sure, there are plenty of things to do in this humungous city, like taking a trip up the Empire State Building, visiting the monument of freedom, the Statue of Liberty or taking a stroll up and down Time Square. All of that is good and fine and those are things that you definitely should see while you are there, but why not do something a little different, like see a Broadway Show. One of the most entertaining Broadway shows to see today is Million Dollar Quartet.

The Broadway musical, Million Dollar Quartet is a story of quite possibly the best jam session of all time. The book for the musical was written by Floyd Mutrux and Colin Escott and it opened to eager viewers ready to see these four music legends join together for one night of great music and dialogue at the Florida Seaside Music Theatre. Soon after a booming opening night, the next off-Broadway showing was in Seattle, Washington at the Village Theatre and it absolutely smashed records. Million Dollar Quartet then moved on to Broadway and now you can find it at the Nederlander Theatre.

After reading that, you are probably wondering who was in the famed quartet. We will go ahead and tell you who participated in this jam session. The players are Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley. Now, if that is not an all star line up of master musicians and lyricists, I do not know what is. They all meet up one day at the Sun Record Studios on December 4, 1956. The studio was located in Memphis, Tennessee, where all of this heavy hitters were due to put on a concert. It was by chance that they all meet up in the studio and they all had the same thing in mind. After seeing one another jamming, they all wanted to take part in it and the smart guy behind the glass decided to let the tapes continue to roll.

The Million Dollar Quartet is a recreation of this famous event and brings to life the events of that day. You will hear toe tapping songs that you love like Love Me Tender, Farther Along, It's Alright and Rip It Up. With a line up like that, it is no wonder Million Dollar Quartet was nominated for multiple Tony Awards. In fact, the musical won a Tony Awards for Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical. So, you now know that this is a musical Broadway show that you do not want to miss out on when you are visiting New York City.
