Although American Idiot has not been on Broadway for long, it has gained popularity amongst the reviewing community as a show that brings you the trials and tribulations of angst ridden
youths and the struggles with find one's self. American Idiot is based off of the album with the same name, brought to you by hit punk band, Green Day. You may be wondering how punk
rock and Broadway could work together, but you will see that the combination of the two complement each other beautifully. Greed Day has said that they made this album specifically to
tell a story, and even though they did not know that it would make a Broadway hit, they knew that the album would tell a story.
This story is about three friends who are sick of their living their lives in the in suburbanized comfort of Jingletown, USA and sick of not knowing what their lives are all about,
typical story of young punk rockers. However, the story is far from typical and you will find out why as the show goes on. The three friends, Johnny Will and Tunny, decide that they
want to venture into the city and see what is out there for them. Things start to take an interesting turn as their journey begins. Will finds out something about his girlfriend that
causes him to stay home (I will not spoil what it is), Tunny gets caught up in an Army recruitment commercial and decides to enlist and Johnny finds himself traveling with his
alter-ego, St. Jimmy.
American Idiot goes on to show what happens to each of the friends as time goes on. The music from Green Day's album plays throughout the entire show, not to mention some songs that are
