Max Papis was born on October 3rd, 1969 in Como, Italy. He drives the #13 Toyota Camry sponsored by Geico for Germain Racing in the Sprint Cup Series. Max’s experience in racing is very interesting and includes races in Formula One and Champ Car. Max began racing in NASCAR in 2006 racing at Busch Series level. In 2008, Max began running in the Sprint Cup Series in place of Scott Riggs, who drove the #66 Haas CNC Racing car. After a few alterations to his schedule, he began running the #13 Geico car for the Sprint Cup Series of 2009. Max Papis gained the nickname “Mad Max” at the 24 Hours of Daytona event in 1996. It was at this event where everyone found out Max was not a quitter, no matter what! This race was not a NASCAR race so Max was driving his Ferrari 333SP which was damaged greatly in the race. Even though it was damaged, he managed to make up 4 laps and come in just 64 seconds shy of the race leader, dubbing him “Mad Max” for his aggressive driving in the roughest conditions. Although Max is not a quitter, his standings in NASCAR are less than favorable. He placed 43rd in the Sprint Cup in 2009 which was his best cup position for that season. He placed 127th in the 2009 Nationwide Series with his best position being 74th. In the 2009 Camping World Truck Series, he placed 34th, also being his best position in the series. In all three series he had zero wins, one top ten finish, and zero poles.
