Elliott Sadler was born on April 30th, 1975 in Emporia, Virginia to a family of race car drivers. Elliott credits two of his family members as being his mentors in the racing game as well as in life, his Uncle Bud Elliott, for who he was named, and his father Herman. Elliott began racing go-carts when he was seven years old and won over 200 races before graduating to the next step in his career. At the age of 18, Elliott began racing for NASCARís weekly series and won a championship there. From there, Elliott moved to the Nationwide Series where he was signed by Gary Bechtel to drive full-time. As a rookie in the Nationwide Series, Elliott dominated finishing at 5th place. Elliott got his first full-time slot in the Sprint Cup Series under the wings of the Wood Brothers who signed him on to drive the #21 car. This was a great investment for the Wood Bros. because Elliott got them a long awaited victory. From the Wood Bros. Elliott joined Robert Yates Racing, where he would finish off his first year 22nd in the standings. His final season with Robert Yates Racing put him 11th in the standings leading up to the Chase for the Championship which knocked him out of the running just shy of the goal mark. Elliott has yet to hold a Sprint Cup Championship, but with all his hard work and good driving, one is around the corner. Elliott is part of the Autism Speaks Foundation due to one of his nieces having the disorder.
