He is a third generation driver who has raced for Michael Waltrip Racing and Braun Racing, currently driving a Toyota Camry under the number 00 with the his main sponsor being Aaron’s. David resides in Mooresville, North Carolina with his wife and daughter. Before David became a full time race car driver, he was employed with the United States Postal Service. David began as a dirt track racer, racing late model modified cars until 1997. At that point, he gained the Rookie of the Year status in the Slim Jim All Pro series. David raced for NEMCO Motorsports when he made his debut in the Busch Series. David did very well in this series, starting in spot 34 and finishing 16th. His efforts in the next season of the series put him at 5th. It was in 2004 that he signed with Darrell Waltrip Motorsports, racing in the Craftsman Truck Series. He gained the Rookie of the Year title for that series as well, winning his second race and 4 top 5 slots for the next races. The year 2006 was a rough one for David with a winless season, but even with no wins, he placed third in the series with four top ten spots. David is a decorated race car driver holding awards such as his Rookie of the Year Awards for his 1997 and 2004 series and a Sportsmanship Award for his 1998 racing season.
