NASCAR - IRL - MOTOCROSS - OTHER RACING EVENTS

David Gilliland was born on April 1st, 1976 in Riverside, California. He drives the #38 Taco Bell car for Front Row Motorsports; he drives for Yates Racing. David began his racing career not in the cockpit of a car, but under the hood. He worked on his fatherís race cars growing up. His father is NASCAR Winston West Series driver Butch Gilliland. David had so much time under the hood growing up that in his high school years, he became the crew chief for his fatherís Autozone team at only 19 years old. All the hard work of his fatherís team paid off because Butch won the Winston West Series Championship, making David a championship crew chief. There was a point in time where wrenching on a car just wasnít enough for David anymore and in 1998 he began racing cars. His second year out, David won 14 of 15 heat races and took the checkered flag in nine of 15 main races in the Perris Auto Speedway stock car division. This set the momentum for David to shine in racing. David also became a team owner when he set up a late model team running at Irwindale Speedway in California. So much had been accomplished by David, but he had his eye on the big leagues of NASCAR. Level after level of racing came and went as David progressed through them all. This hard work and champion attitude landed him in the NASCAR West Series, where he had helped his father from inside the garage. As David progresses through the different series of NASCAR, he picks up 2004 NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series Rookie of the Year, four top tens and two poles in the Sprint Cup Series, 1 win and 2 top tens in the Nationwide Series, and one top ten in the Camping World Truck Series.
