Founded in 1967, the Pittsburgh Penguins currently hold the record in the NHL for longest season ending undefeated streak at 18 wins before the regular season closes. Overall, they are a very successful team with three Stanley Cup wins, four conference championship appearences, and six division championship appearences. The team operates out of Pittrburgh, Pennsylvania, US and is part of the Eastern Conference as an Atlantic Division member. The team is currently owned by Canadian Mario Lemieux and American Ron Burkle, managed by Ray Shero, coached by Dan Bylsma, and captained by Sidney Crosbey. Sidney Crosbey is noted as being the youngest permanent captain on a roster to this day. The addition of rookie Evgeni Malkin in 2006 marked the start of the second longest scoring streak in history as he scored points in his first fourteen games of his inaugural season. He later won the Art Ross Trophy in the 2008-09 season. During the season, the team experienced a lull in ability but the head coach, Michel Therrien was let go in favor of Dan Bylsma and a long injured Sergei Gonchar returned to the ice. During the season, they scored enough points to solidify a home ice advantage in the finals and eventually their third Stanley Cup. They did not repeat that success in the next season, but they came close with forty-seven wins, twenty-eight losses, and seven overtime losses for one hundred and one points for the season. They were second in the division and lost to the Montreal Canadiens in the Conference Semifinals with a score of three to four!
