The New Orleans Saints who are members of the South Division of the National Football Conference became part of the NFL in 1966 as part of an expansion, making it the 16th franchise of the league. They played home games at Tulane Stadium until the season of 1975 in which they began and are currently playing at the Louisiana Superdome. Since its foundation many years ago, the team has faced many struggles when it comes to facing defeat. Even in the 2000s when hopes were looking up, Hurricane Katrina came through the team’s hometown, destroying the area. The arena as well as the lives of the Saints’ greatest fans were shaken and devastated. Temporary arenas for home games were used, and the New Orleans Saints kept their heads held high. However, through out history, the Saints have gradually, yet continuously, improved from the past. Eventually, after more than 40 years of fighting for the goal, the New Orleans Saints reached the peak of success when they won Super Bowl XLIV. This prideful defeat against the Colts gave the team a newfound hope and strengthened the team spirits as they saw the results of such hard work. Many times players have said it is through the support of their great fans that they receive the inspiration to continue forward.
