The Scarlet Knights were assembled for their first season in 1869 at Rutgers University and have since accumulated a .503 win percentage from almost six hundred wins, and six hundred losses. For their postseason bowl games, the team has pulled away from six bowl games with four wins so far. They share one national title in 1869. And have the historic honor of being one of the original two intercollegiate teams to have a record. They defeated Princeton University six to four in 1869 in what was the very first organized football event. Their current head coach, Greg Schiano, is entering his tenth year at the college and so far has fifty-five wins and losses to his tenure. In his first four seasons, he did not fair too well, but halfway into his stay, he turned out the teams first winning season in ten years. Over the years, Rutgers has acquired a handful of rivalries. First, the now defunct Princeton Tigers, then the Syracuse Orange, UConn Huskies, Army Black Knights, and the Navy Midshipmen. The most successful coach since 1910 was Frank R. Burns from 1973 to 1983 with a win percentage of .643 and a final record of seventy-eight wins, forty-three losses, and one tie.
