The Hoosiers are part of the Big Ten Conference and hail from Indiana University at Bloomington. The program was sanctioned in 1887 and since then, they have accrued an all-time record of four hundred and thirty-three wins, five hundred and ninety-one losses, and forty-four ties. This gives them a compiled total win percentage o f .426. They have only competed in nine postseason bowl games, and of those, only won three. They do however have two conference titles showing they have the ability to win big at times. Their current head coach of three years, Bill Lynch, has a subpar record of fourteen wins and twenty-three losses proving to be a detriment to the schools already lackluster win percentage at .378 during his career. Their 1967 coach, John Pont won the coveted Paul “Bear” Bryant Award, and in 1986 and 1987 Bill Mallory earned the Dave McClain Coach of the Year Honor. The college should be noted for pushing forward seven contemporary NFL players such as Matt Mayberry, Ray Fisher, Isaac Sowells, and James Hardy that are all active players today. The team’s Big Ten championships came in 1945, in which they were sole title holders, and in 1967 where they were co-champions. They have been ranked in the top twenty five times in the AP Poll being as high as 4th and as low as 20th.
