Roxy Music is a British rock group formed back in the 1970’s by Bryan Ferry, Phil Manzanera, Andy Mackay and Paul Thompson; past members include Brian Eno and Eddie Jobson. The band has a very interesting art/pop sound which played a major role in the forming of the English punk scene of the mid to late 70’s and took full advantage of the glam scene which was going on at the time of their formation. Considering their use of synthesizers and electronics, they laid the groundwork for the future “new wave” movement in music. Besides being great musicians and originators of the group, Bryan Ferry and Brian Eno have very successful solo careers and are also influential record producers. Their accomplishments include the production of music from such artists as David Bowie, Devo, Talking Heads, U2 and Coldplay.

The years 1971 to 1976 mark Roxy Music’s early years with multiple album releases and plenty of chart toppers. The band picked up a great fan base in their early years. Richard Williams, journalist for Melody Maker magazine, became a huge fan of the band and greatly contributed to their early success. Ironically, the band found a few of their members in the same publication. Albums in this time frame written by Roxy Music include , Roxy Music produced in July 1972, For Your Pleasure produced in April 1973, Stranded produced in December 1973, Country Life produced in November 1974, and Siren produced just one year later.

The albums produced between 1978 and 1983 including Manifesto produced in March 1979, Flesh + Blood produced in May 1980, Avalon produced in June 1982 would mark the final albums before a breakup which would lead to a Brian Ferry solo career. The group reunited in 2001 and continues to tour and play shows to loyal fans.
