Lady Gaga was born in New York City’s borough of Manhattan in 1986 and was raised in the Upper East Side, but makes a point to say that she and her family have worked for everything they have. Born Stefani Germanotta, Lady Gaga has been fascinated by music since a very early age, learning to play the piano since she was 4 years old. All throughout her high school career, she focused primarily on academics and her passion for the arts. Gaga has said on multiple occasions that “she didn’t really fit in” in high school. Upon high school graduation, Gaga attended a performing arts institute at NYU to further her education in her favorite subject matter, but ended up dropping out not too long after to pursue a career in music.

Lady Gaga has had a few run-ins with a few different record labels, the first being Def Jam Recordings who hired and dropped Gaga after only 3 months. Not long after this encounter was she introduced to RedOne, a songwriter and producer from the area. After a few years of recording songs in a New Jersey basement, 2007 saw the quick emergence of Lady Gaga. While performing at various local venues in New York, Gaga was invited with her performance partner Lady Starlight to play at Lollapalooza. The act they put on here would end up landing Lady Gaga a contract deal with Vincent Herbert, the record executive of Streamline Records, which is affiliated with Interscope Records. Upon being discovered, she ended up getting herself a songwriting deal with Sony/ATV. This would get her a job writing music for artists such as Britney Spears, the Pussycat Dolls, and Fergie.

Gaga had written songs for quite a time until rap artist Akon recognized Lady Gaga for the vocal talent she possessed. This partnership would end up spawning the beginning of Lady Gaga’s hit music career. She soon moved to Los Angeles, California to begin work on her debut album, which would feature future world hits like “Poker Face” and “Just Dance”. The Fame would receive Grammy nominations left and right, including one for Album Of the Year along with taking home the Grammy for Best Dance Recording.

Her second studio album, The Fame Monster, was released in November of 2009. The hit song “Bad Romance” ended up becoming a huge success, hitting the number one spot on multiple music charts around the world. Her promotional tour, The Monster Ball Tour, is going to take her around the world from now until April of 2011. Her worldwide success is expected to continue for quite sometime having changed the face of the music industry, both through her music and her style off the stage. Her eccentric fashion paired with some of the best pop music today make for one of the most exciting and memorable concert experiences you’ll find anywhere.
