Snoop Dogg, born Cordozar Calvin Broadus, has been active in the hip hop and rap industry since the early nineties. He has released several albums, and is best known for his laid back and smooth delivery. While most
artists in the genre tend to yell or have blunted lyrics that result in a jarred rhythm, Snoop Dogg maintains a consistent and sometimes waving flow throughout his songs. His lyrics and rhymes are lauded as being
indicative if a flow master. His first album debuted in 1993 with the title Doggystyle under the label Death Row Records which would lead to significant conflict following the death of Tupac Shakur. Doggystyle gained
quadruple platinum status and was a great success with its included singles “What’s My Name” and “Gin & Juice.” The last alum he produced for Death Row in 1996 was Tha Doggfather which did not perform as well as
Doggystyle but was in no way, a failure. He did produce another song while under the Death Row label for the singular purpose of trashing both the label and the CEO, Suge Knight for his supposed involvement in the
murder of 2Pac. Upon completion of the timetable in his contract with Death Row Records, Snoop Dogg immediately signed with No Limit Records and released three albums in three years, Da Game Is to Be Sold, Not to Be
Told, No Limit Top Dogg, and Tha Last Meal. Snoop signed with a new label in 2002, and released Paid tha Cost to Be da Boss, and again signed with a different label, this time Geffen Records, in 2004 for his next
three albums.
