Ludacris is an Atlanta, Georgia rapper known for his unorthodox music and frequent appearance in tv and movies. Since his debut in 1998, he has released seven albums, the first in 2000. Back for the First Time was
his first album with a major recording label. While officially his debut, it was actually a redone recording of his original album, Incognegro. On this release of sorts, came a number four peak on the US Billboard
200 and was considering a massive success for the artist. The album included the songs, “Southern Hospitality,” “Phat Rabbit,” and “What’s Your Fantasy?” which all shaped his definition as a mainstream rap icon for
the future. His next album, Word of Mouf in 2001 was more often performed than his previous album and had the song, “Rollout (My Business)” nominated for a 2002 VMA. Chicken-n-Beer, his 2003 release, held his biggest
hit so far, “Stand Up” which was considered an excellent diamond surrounded by mediocrity. In fact, a small lawsuit ensued after the song’s release in which a small group claimed Ludacris stole their hook. The case
was subsequently thrown out. Ludacris’ next four albums have met with similar success to the previous three giving him a respectable status as a mainstay in the rap industry.
