Currently forty-four, Lee Ann Womack’s music career began eighteen years ago. From her six studio albums, she has produced five platinum certifications and two gold presses from her 1997 self-titled album to her most recent album, Call Me Crazy. Her most successful album, I Hope You Dance, hit the top of the US Billboard Hot Country Songs. Before being a country music icon, Lee Ann Womack was a smalltown girl born and raised in Jacksonville, Texas, US. After leaving Belmost University in 1990 studying business, she began a career eighteen years in the making. She spent the early nineties taking care of her children, writing, and looking for places to perform and made music her main pursuit by 1992. She had interned at MCA records in the late eighties and when executives heard her demos a few years later, they decided to give her a contract which produced her debut album in 1997. The release of her second album marked a sudden pulse in her career followed a slow fade punctuated by the massive success in I Hope You Dance. Ever since, her albums have gained praise or relative disinterest, but have yet to sacrifice quality. She has won multiple awards from her albums starting in 1998 with the ACM award, Top New Female Vocalist, AMA award for Favorite Country New Artist. Then won Grammy Awards in 2001 and 2003, and most recently in 2005 she won Single of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Musical Event from the Country Music Association Awards.
