Brooks and Dunn is a country music duo comprised of Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn. Prior to the partnership, they were both successful country music singers in the late eighties. After their final concert, September 2nd 2010 in Nashville, the two will be parting ways. They will continue to relaunching their solo careers. Their music style can be characterized as ranging from modern country to rock-tinged honky-tonk. “Boot Scootin’ Boogie,” one of their better known songs is definitive of their upbeat style. Both members of the group sing and play guitar and they write their own songs for the group. Their most notable quality is their high intensity live performances and they’ve even had their songs used by former president George Bush during campaign ads. John Kerry played their songs “Hard Workin’ Man” and “Only in America” during the 2004 Democratic National Convention. “Only in America” has had the continued honor of being played during the Barack Obama announcement of his running mate as well as during his nomination acceptance speech. “Only in America” has been thoroughly used by politicians of varying levels to background their campaigns or notable moments. Since the duo formed, they have done twelve headlining tours, with their upcoming tour, The Last Rodeo Tour, being confirmed as their last one. From 1991, the duo has been accepted twenty-eight awards from the Academy of Country Music. And the AMA and CMA have awarded them twenty awards. They also hold two Grammies and a handful of special interest awards.
