In New York, Young worked his way up in theater with many scenes and roles in regional plays and off-Broadway shows. Young didn’t get the role of Frankie Vallie when he first auditioned but about a year after his auditioned he was called to play the lead role on Broadway. On November 9, 2007 was when Young’s role ended with Jersey Boys. Some of the awards Young has received are the Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award, Theater World Award, and Tony Award for Best Actor in Musical.
