 Hypnosis
is a show held at Tropicana in Las Vegas and encourages the
audience to get rowdy with drinking and yelling all they
want. There are two men that host the show, Michael Johns
and Terry Stokes, they are known as “The Bad Boys of
Hypnosis.” Michael Johns had started his career in school
when he was always the class clown which was way before he
knew he could get paid for being a clown. Terry Stokes
practiced hypnosis for more than 30 years as a
hypnotherapist, lecturer, teacher, and stage performer.
They start out with the saying “Tonight’s show is only as
good as you want it to be.” He tells the audience that the
true stars of the show are the volunteers who are being
hypnotized. Once the volunteers are hypnotized there is not
telling what crazy things they will be doing and what is
seen on stage. The host tells the people who are thinking of
being volunteers that they don’t have to be afraid of doing
anything too embarrassing. He tells them “You will always
remain fully clothed, as much as you know.” The hosts
personality and humor gets the audience in the mood for the
show before he asks for volunteers to be hypnotized. After
he has chosen all of the volunteers to come up on stage, he
does a small induction.
While he is doing the induction he asks the audience to be
very quiet so his volunteers can reach a total state of
relaxation. When he knows all of his volunteers are ready
and have reached a state of hypnosis, the fun begins. He
will create outrageous scenarios for the volunteers such as
placing them in a tropical Jamaican Beach and an infomercial
for adult toys. The volunteers’ reactions are unpredictable
and uninhibited and the hosts’ witty results all end a very
comical show. The host likes to temp the audience and keep
them wondering along with get them to go crazy with sayings
like “I could stop now or take it to another level,” which
keeps them wondering what the next scene will be.
The show is performed 7 nights a week at 9:30pm every night
at The Cellar at Tropicana Hotel and Casino. This show
creates a very unique hypnotic experience for everyone at
the show especially the volunteers. Most people say it is
one of the most entertaining and fun show they have ever
seen in Las Vegas.
