The Showgirl Must Go OnThe Siena Golf Club opened in 2000 and was designed by Lee Schmidt and Brian Curley, just below the beauty and serenity of Spring Mountain, on flat desert land. This par 72, 6843 yard course in Summerlin is going to be a great surprise to many newcomers venturing to the area and add to the fact that 90 bunkers grace the course, you will need to be on your toes. The rising and falling fairways, the stark white sandy bunkers and quick rolling greens are meticulously maintained all year round so that golf can be played here always. This dynamic duo of designers always make sure that the courses they design are playable and enjoyable for skill levels of all degrees. With doglegs, straight away fairways, and various degrees of undulating greens, the play here is great. There are bailouts for the worry warts, but if you desire and need to play a good round, then you go for broke. The landings are usually big, however, the bunkers are deep and soft, with varying heights facing you. The greens are well protected with lots of bunkers and 6 holes are along or over water hazards.

There are 4 par 3s that run less than 200 yards, 8 par 4s going 420 or less and 2 par 5s that can be had in two. The number 12 that runs about 506 yards and 15 that is 514 with numerous bunkers and water traps. Practice is suggested, because the first hole, a par 4 is 420 yards and an eye opener. From the tee, water is to the left and low bunkers to the right. Once you can get past those, hopefully on your first shot the rolling fairway opens up to the green. On the par 3 number 5, running 159 yards, you face an island green sloping to the left where the water lurks. The ninth is a par 4, 420 yards with running water from the tee to the green on the left and heavy bunkers on the right, as the green seems to jut out over the water. The views are fantastic as you play along the course, even though you do get apprehensive about some of the tee offs. The par 4, number 18 is 400 yards and goes uphill where the once wide open fairway seems to shrink into a narrow area that get smaller the closer you get to the green. Lake Siena, which runs up to the clubhouse, protects the green and makes it tough to play this hole. This great golf course has been contoured to give you a challenging round of golf that will have you trying every club in your bag. But the green fees aren't too bad and do include the cart, so you can and should have a great day of golf and enjoy the whole adventure. A driving range is located here, with rental clubs available.

The 14,000 square foot clubhouse is Tuscan styled with a wonderful patio that allows sitters to view the play at the lake and surrounding areas. The Siena Bistro is an Italian restaurant serving up the best of Italy and some really spicy foods.
