The Showgirl Must Go OnThe southern Nevada country club of DragonRidge is an oasis of extravagance in the foothills of Henderson. Designed by David Druzisky and Jay Morrish, the club opened in 2000 with a beautifully manicured course of 18 breathtaking holes. With club and cart rentals, 50 stall driving range, in-house pro; this par 72, 7039 yard course is amazing. Set on the undulating foothills, with distinct elevation changes, rock formations and natural canyons, the scenic views are very enjoyable even though you are playing golf. The clubhouse incorporates a formal dining room with steakhouse, family grill, full service fitness center, members only bar, golf pro shop and 5 championship tennis courts; this is one fancy place. Set within the MacDonald Highlands with its rich Scottish background, this championship course rolls over the highlands and deep into the McCullough Mountains. With rising fairways, rugged terrain and breaking greens, this is a great course for golfers of all skill levels.

Getting right into play this course offers a first tee of 411 yards and a par 4, with great fairway space and a big green, the only problem here would be the prevailing winds. The first of the par 5s is number 4 hole with bunkers around the green that is intimidating to many. Advice is offered to go left on a long hard tee shoot if possible. With numerous elevated tees, this course can be very exciting, although the thought is that these elevated tees only look more formidable than they really are. The par 4 number 6 has a hillside to the left and a fairway bunker running the length of the fairway to the right. The elevated tee gives a great view, but as said earlier causes some concern; although once off the tee, the worry abates and the enjoyment returns. One of the more difficult holes is the par 4 number 7 at 441 yards with green protected in the front with a bunker to the right and water all around the right after. The next hole is 563 yards and with rising and falling fairways, this could be difficult. Most suggest a 3 shot up to the green on the left. The most difficult hole of the first nine is number 9, a par 4 at 444 yards. Difficult because it doglegs to the right, but slopes to the left. Even with a good tee shot, the second will be uphill to a well guarded green. The 18th hole is a heart pounder with 607 yards long and a par 5, with a desert wash running along the fairway and guarding the front of the green, which is kidney shaped and sloping, with a split fairway like the number 10 hole. On the 10 hole advice is to go left, while on 18, go right. This course was dynamited from the mountainside and most greens tend to lean to the east.

There is a 60,000 square foot practice area with a driving range, short game area with sand bunkers and 2 grass putting greens. With unlimited golf balls, the practice area is included with the green fee, with an attendee to assist, clean clubs or give advice. There are golf pros available to help with any questions or needs that you might have, as well as give lessons to improve your game.
