an everyday experience at Universal's Studios.
Imagine two of the world's most exciting theme parks
wrapped in an array of nighttime entertainment. Leap
through the screen and find yourself in the middle
of one of Universal's famous movies. This is
television and motion pictures at their best,
lights, camera, action, experience high-powered
thrills, convulsive laughter, and hair raising
action as it occurs all around you. Play a leading
role in Shrek, the Terminator, Woody Woodpecker's
kidzone, and get lost in your part. Come "Ride the
Movies" at Universal Studios in Orlando Florida!
Enjoy heart pounding rides inspired by some of the
most popular films.
The Universal Orlando resort includes Universal
Studios and Islands of Adventure along with the
various hotels scattered on the premises. Islands of
Adventure is a favorite among the teenage and young
adult crowd. Most of our school groups select the
packages that include Islands of Adventure in the
itinerary. Each of the two parks are different in
their own right and each bring a distinct flavor to
whet the appetite of thrill seeking guests.
Universal Studios
Universal Studios is the older of the two parks.
Like it's Disney variant, Universal Studios is a
live working film studio. Many of our guests call us
very surprised that actual filming is being
performed during the day of their visit! This theme
park boasts larger than life structures and walking
down the street that recreates NYC creates a surreal
setting and guests easily get lost in the movies! Be
sure to try all the movies rides in this theme park
and tell us which is your favorite!

"Revenge of the Mummy Ride's not for
those who are faint of heart" - Taking
their theme from the 1999 and 2001
summer blockbuster Mummy and the Mummy
returns, this ride combines a dark ride
and a roller coaster with launches,
twisting, and effects to overwhelm the
five senses. As I approached the queue,
I had no idea what I was in for!
Suddenly I found myself inside of
Imhotep's tomb, a fully themed Egyptian
tomb. It appears that the tomb had been
desecrated by robbers. "I think the
mummy inside is angry" stated one of the
visitors. As I reached for one of the
walls, a bug jumped out at me. We
finally navigated our group into the
tomb of curses, a imminent solar eclipse
will empower the Mummy to claim souls of
those who violate his tomb. We finally
load into one of the cars and I could
see the eclipse of the sun through a
hole the ceiling. As ride was
underway, first appeared the last
surviving tomb raider beckoning that we
"don't go into the chamber." Well, it
was to late to turn back now. Skeletal
remains of the previous tomb raiders
seem to be scattered all over the place
as skeletons pounce out at us from every
side. Finally we got beyond the robbers
and enter the room of treasure where
there are scenes of the "The Mummy
Returns" and "The Scorpion King."
Something was about to go terribly wrong
I thought as lights shifted to the
decaying remains of previous tomb
robbers. The next chamber was utterly
horrible as a Skeleton Warrior drops
from the ceiling inches from our heads.
Remember, I'm on a roller coaster and I
can not see the track.
We begin riding up hill and down hill at
high speed until suddenly we stop, but
that ain't it, now the car starts to
roll backward, something a roller
coaster does not do. Finally, we come
face to face with Imhotep, but before he
can suck out their souls, the eclipse
breaks and he explodes into a Faux Fire
right in our faces!

"Fear Factor Live will stretch your
nerves to the Limits!" - Putting
beautiful bodies through tortuous
physical challenges such as jumping from
one moving truck to another, dangling
from helicopters, performing gravity
daring stunts before thousands, is only
part of the many dangerous stunts seen
at the Fear Factor Live. If you wanted
to physically participate in the Fear
Factor you had to sign up near the
Terminator attraction. Personally I took
a rain check, unprepared to eat Bull's
body parts, crunchy spiders, or pig
entrails. Four children were select from
the visitors to eat Crunchy Candy
Beatles ( I could have done that) and
the winner won a premium pass to the
theme park. Finally the four contestants
came out looking every bit as authentic
as the NBC version on television. In the
first act the volunteers had to stand on
a platform, once released smoke rings
were blown in their faces. Some of the
contestants fell and a cable kept them
from crashing to the ground. Another act
had a person strapped in a tank with a
mask and emperor scorpions, the world's
largest are poured onto the contestant,
the only problem is that they have
stingers and pinchers and are VERY
aggressive. Following this act everyone
was grossed out when they blended up
some worms, eels, and rotten body parts,
unlike NBC's version contestants are
allowed to vomit. I think there were
some visitors that felt like vomiting
first right next to me. The last act was
the most disgusting when the contestants
had to eat large scorpion spiders, alive
and still moving while they crunched on
their fangs, yuk!

"City Walk is not just a walk in the
park, but much more." - If
you like shopping in specialty stores,
then City Walk is a nice place to visit.
It is also a home to an array of
nightclubs, venues, street performers,
vendors, restaurants, concerts. It has
all the excitement of Las Vegas and New
York, wrapped up into 30 acres of fun
packed adventure. Since we get up early,
we grabbed a cup of morning coffee at
one of the local shops on our way to the
theme parks. Later on we grab a
bite to eat at the local Hard Rock Cafe
while we did a bit of shopping. I was
surprised to see affordable prices for
the venue but you have to live it up
once in a while. On the way Emerils
(owned by the famous chef Emeril
Lagasse) we were able to catch a popular
band in concert, and some of the guests
continued to party into the night. As
your walking through City Walk you can
just feel the Electricity in the air. I
just wanted to say the shops are
comparable to downtown Disney but a
little more unique and "grown up" from
the Disney's Kid-oriented parks. As a
note, City Walk does not have real
amusement rides but they are more like
virtual reality entertainment. For those
who like the club scene, City Walk has a
host of bars like Margaritaville and Pat
O'briens. I've heard that the atmosphere
in Margaritaville is really laid back
with the Jimmy Buffet music being played
in the background. On the other hand Pat
O'Briens is substantially larger
offering and indoor bar, piano bar, and
outdoor seating. If your athletic type.
you can shoot basketballs at NBA City
while your enjoying a delicious entire.
Don't forget City Walk is the home of
the Hard Rock Cafe, huge movie theatres,
Virgin Records store, and
Emeril's. Whatever your taste, there is
something for everyone at City Walk,
Universal Studio's premier night life
and shopping venue. |
