Whispering Canyon Cafe:
This fun family restaurant fashioned from the old west will serve up great
fixings for breakfast, lunch and dinner; buffet style or a la carte. Here you
will be startled by the adeptness of your server napkin twirling, as well as
laugh with hobby horse races. Start with breakfast appetizers like fresh baked
pastries in a basket or fresh seasonal fruit on a plate, then dig into Belgian
waffles, western omelets, Canyon all you care to eat skillets, buttermilk
pancakes, French toast or ham and cheese omelets. You'll find all the usual side
dishes to make this a great start. At lunch, chili or southwestern chicken soup
are appetizers with main entrees; smokehouse stack sandwich, Canyon veggie
plate, slow-smoked pulled pork sandwich, pan-seared Rainbow trout, Canyon all
you care to eat skillet, chicken salad or sandwich and Angus chuck bacon
cheeseburger. Alcoholic drinks are always available to wash it all down.
Desserts are fantastic also. For dinner, appetizers are fried chicken wings or
western chips and dips, then mixed greens salad or southwestern chicken soup and
the entrees include; western chicken pasta, 12 ounce smoked prime rib, veggie
enchilada, peel-n-eat shrimp, Canyon all you care to eat skillet, meatloaf,
roast chicken, and St. Louis style ribs.
Artist Point:
With paintings and murals of the Pacific Northwest hanging about the walls, this
restaurant garnishes the looks of National Park lodges strewn across the Pacific
areas of Washington, British Columbia and Oregon. Serving up special dishes from
the area is what they do best here and the cuisine speaks volumes of it with the
house special cedar plank roasted salmon and the heirloom tomato salad followed
by cobbler with fresh seasonal berries or the house made black raspberry ice
cream. Serving only dinner this esteemed restaurant has an abundance of culinary
delights including; for appetizers; artisan cheeses with Riesling-poached
raisins, dried cranberries and walnut toast, duck confit, braised penn cove
mussels and crispy venison spring rolls; smokey portobello soup, baby iceberg
wedge salad, mixed greens salad. For the main entrees; crusted ahi tuna, grilled
buffalo sirloin steak, cedar plank roasted King salmon, marinated smoked pork
chops, roasted chicken breast, pan-seared scallops and potato-chive pot
stickers.

Bay Lake Beach:
Build a monster sand castle while soaking up the sun at this pristine white
beach where the days are sunny and the water cool and refreshing.
Pools:
Silver Creek Springs pool includes a waterslide and hot
tub while the Hidden Springs pool includes the hot tub with both having a great
bar and lounge for your enjoyment at the pools. The Trout Pass pool bar and
Roaring Forks snack bar are only open seasonally, but the delicious snacks,
specialty drinks and coffees are something to wait for. Starting inside the
lobby, the Silver Creek flows over rocks under a window, widening and going
through the courtyard before falling 15 feet into the boulder and tree lined
Silver Creek Springs pool. A truly beautiful sight and the sounds are so
enrapturing.
Sturdy Branches Health Club:
For
a great workout, the fitness club contains all the best and necessary equipment
to do the job. With stair climbers, regular and recumbent bikes, free weights,
treadmills, weight machines and ellipticals, you won't have any trouble keeping
trim and fit while you enjoy those fabulous meals at the lodge. Finish it all
with a great sauna to keep those muscles from tightening up as well as setting
you up for a relaxing evening of fun and frolicking. Open 24 hours a day, you
won't have to worry about schedules. |

Buttons & Bells Arcade:
For a great time of video skill testing or pinball
wizardry, try you hands at the Buttons and Bells Arcade where your children can
teach you a thing or two about the latest video fads.
Chip'n Dale's Campfire Sing-a-long:
At Chip'n Dales Campfire sing-a-long everyone will have a
hooting time under the starry skies singing their favorite tunes and watching a
special Disney movie while the fire flies to the skies and marshmallows are
roasted.
Watercraft Rentals:
Catch the waves with a sea raycer, canopy boat or pontoon
boat at the watercraft rentals or jump aboard a specialty cruise and have a
great time on Lake Crescent.
Horse-Drawn or Horseback Excursions:
Horseback riding for 45 minutes through the Fort
wilderness Resort and Campground woods will really lift your spirit and help you
to appreciate the beautiful country located in and around the Disney property.
It is a guided tour and there are some exclusions and limits, so you should call
before deciding anything. Or if you and your family prefer an old fashioned
wagon ride, you can do that also around the same woods, for 45 minutes or so
also. Only on a first come first served basis so make your plans ahead of time
and check schedules. The carriage ride is only for 25 minutes, but the pace is
slow and easy with plenty of time to enjoy the sights, sounds and smells of the
magnificent terrain; also going through Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground. |

Bike Rentals:
A great way to view the scenery with its tropical plants,
animals and birds; rent a bike and enjoy a three quarter mile jaunt to the
cabins at Fort Wilderness or just ride around stretching those achy muscles from
the theme park runs.
Fishing:
For a few hours or more spend some family time together at
the fishing hole where you can enjoy the sights and sounds of the area while
teaching your children to fish; but you must put them back so the cycle can go
on.

Children's Playground:
Near the Wilderness Lodge Mercantile, the playground offers a 24 hour vent for
children where they can slide, climb, jump, dangle, play and have fun.
Cub's Den:
Give your children a treat at the Cub's Den from 4:30 PM
until midnight with games, crafts, dinner and snacks, Disney movies all in a
western themed environment meant to help them have a great time of fun and
friendship.
Jogging Trail:
Jog, run or bike along this one mile path to the cabins at Fort Wilderness and
enjoy the serenity of the moment in fresh air and beautiful scenery. |

Wilderness facts: if you should look up
towards the ceiling beams in the lodge, you will notice 4 beautiful chandeliers
shaped like teepees made of rawhide, hand painted and stretched over brass and
steel rings with geometric designs, buffaloes and horseback riders; each
weighing 600 pounds. And the Fire Rock Geyser fashioned after Old Faithful jumps
120 feet every hour from dawn until 10 PM each day amazing onlookers and
thrilling children.
The flooring of the lodge is inlaid Brazilian cherry, Burl walnut, white oak and
Bird's-eye Maple woven so intricately that the design symbolizes the unity of
man, the cosmos, 4 seasons and wildlife.
The magnificent artifacts were brought from the Native American tribes of
Blackfoot, Crow, Cheyenne and Sioux. These wonderful painted robes, headdresses
and drums were handcrafted by Native Americans who revere the forces of nature
and the environment. |
Roaring Fork:
Open from 6 AM until midnight, this quick service restaurant serves make to
order omelets, burgers, pizza, salads, soups, snacks and sandwiches to keep the
thunder in your belly from overtaking your day's fun.
Territory Lounge:
Great Northwest wines, specialty drinks and coffees, this fine establishment
serves some great snacks in a wonderful environment; Applewood smoked bacon and
tomato flatbread, pulled pork and cole slaw flatbread, nachos, honey-ginger
chicken wings and fruit and cheese plate.

More facts: in the lobby,
two 55 foot totem poles, one dedicated to the raven and the other topped by an
eagle have various animals carved into them about Native American legends and
myths. A 10 foot totem of Humphrey Bear, Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy
stand just beside the Mercantile.
