Walt Disney
World's Magic Kingdom
Information on Adventureland
Adventureland
Adventureland is another great attraction at Walt
Disney World and features 4 areas split in 2 distinct sub areas of the
attractions. One of the main rides is the Jungle Cruise; which takes you
through areas representing the continents of South America, Africa and Asia.
This is a boat ride taking you through the jungles of these continents via the
main flowing rivers that exist in these lands. Another venue is the Enchanted
Tiki Room, an animated show involving birds creating a fun filled
environment that is great for the whole family. One of the 2 main sub areas is
the Pirates of the Caribbean, which is quite different from the original
opening ride and theme from the 70s; because of the huge success of the movie
series. The other main area is the Arabian marketplace that has many wonderful
shops that might exist in the northern areas of Africa and eastern parts of
Asia. Here you can enjoy the wonderful and colorful items that have been
imported to delight the visitors wishing for something other than the usual
Disney fare. The Magic Carpets of Aladdin is a ride, much like Dumbo, but
with the theme of Aladdin and all the other features from this film. The last
major attraction in Adventureland is Swiss Family Tree House that is fun
for the whole family as you explore this magical tree house that is high up in a
enormous tree.
The Jungle Cruise is an imaginary ride into the 3
continents of South America, Africa and Asia with areas of plant life that are a
great addition to the landscape of this ride. For about 10 minutes you travel
into the jungle areas of deepest darkest Africa, Asia and finally South America
with elephants playing around a waterfall, hippos bathing, a rhino keeping
hunters occupied, zebras, snakes and butterflies. The guides that operate these
boats all have their own repertoire which makes the boat ride so much fun and
carry special weapons that upon firing have a unique sound heard through the
boat's sound system. One tiny tidbit of information is that the Sankuru Sadie
has sunk once, while none of the others have made that distinction. So, if you
end up riding on that boat, let the rider beware that it could always happen
again.
The Enchanted Tiki Room- Under new management, who are
Zazu from the Lion King movie and lago from the movie Aladdin. The original
tropical birds of Jose, Fritz, Pierre and Micheal are still there to keep the
audience laughing, with the two new managers, Zazu and lago adding to the zany
comical banter that goes on between the birds. It is a great place for the young
children to laugh and spoof at the birds as they in turn take turns at cracking
jokes or making fun of each other.
Pirates of the Caribbean was the precepts that inspired
the movie trilogy of the Pirates theme, and now the ride is gradually being
upgraded to encompass some of the favorite aspects of this great old theme area.
The lines have become longer because of the movies popularity, but generally
move pretty quickly. Of course, Captain Jack Sparrow is still up to his usual
antics and keeps everyone laughing and smiling. You will enter the boats after
having traveled through a dark cave that fall a little into the streaming lanes
that wander through the underground cavern, with all the usual sidekicks and
stick men in the movie; area also here. A special note to those
coming to Disneyworld this summer, is the addition of the Pirates League, which
will be an opportunity for landlubbers, both boys and girls to become a pirate
and join Jack's crew. Being able to get into the secret treasure room, will be
part of the show after a short tutorial by Jack Sparrow; plus being able to
locate clues to other pirate adventures.
On the Magic Carpets of Aladdin, you will imagine yourself
riding on a magic carpet over the world of Walt Disney, with controls to go up
or down, as well as being able to control the pitch of the carpet from the back
seat controls. It is a wonderful ride for the younger children but can be boring
and not too exciting to the older kids. But if you use those fantastic
imaginative powers of yours and close your eyes, you could be flying over the
deserts of the Middle East.

Swiss Family Tree House is a magical tree that was the
main theme in the movie Swiss Family Robinson; about a family that gets
shipwrecked on an island in the south Pacific and has to use part of the ship
and cargo to build an incredible tree house for the family to live out of the
elements of storms and animals. This tree house in Adventureland is a more
modern idea of that tree house with many authentic looking materials that could
have been on the ship. Standing an impressive 60 feet in the air, with the
widest point being 90 feet, this is a great place to go, see and visit. Climbing
up and down into the various rooms, you are transported via your great
imagination to a land far from the hustle and bustle of today's world. The view
from the top is really great and the people at Disney did a wonderful job of
using their imaginations to come up with this unusually unique tree house. The
bedroom is really good, as well as the outdoor kitchen/cooking area. Definitely
a fun place for the children to enjoy and use their great imaginations.
If you love pineapples and their great flavor, then you should visit Aloha
Island in Adventureland to get a delicious pineapple Dole whip. This is the only
place in the park where you can get one and this is great ice cream! Another
venue in Adventureland that occupies the children for hours, while you enjoy
your pineapple delight, the Shrunken Ned's Junior Jungle Boats that are small
remote controlled boats that you drive from the safety of a deck while your boat
travels the world of ships and pirates.
